Change in the West

For readers in western Forsyth County and eastern Davie County, we’re making some changes in our zoned edition, The Clemmons Journal, that runs on Thursday. It will have a new name, a new mast and an additional reporter. Lisa O’Donnell, one of our most talented features reporter, will be joining the staff.

The new name: The Clemmons-Lewisville Journal. Yeah, it’s a mouthful, but we think it’s representative of the land beyond Muddy Creek. When we began this publication many years ago, Lewisville hadn’t incorporated, and Clemmons was the 800-lb gorilla out there. It’s still the biggest town, and the commercial center. But Lewisville has grown enough to deserve a spot on the masthead.

We think it’s a good fit that will mirror the improvements we made a year ago with The Kernersville Journal.

AND KEEP THOSE PUMPKIN HEADLINES COMING ...

Excellent!  I’ve lived in Lewisville for two years and I always wondered why it was called the Clemmons Journal when half the articles are about Lewisville.

Living in the land beyond muddy creek I look forward to the new edition.  Oddly enough, though, I was hoping that creek would be what kept the Winston-Salem folks away.  But, alas, some of us in the land beyond are “Winston-Salemites” now, but we still like the Lewisville-Clemmons news and info.  Will it come to those of us in the W-S city limits that are a stones throw away from Lewisville’s eastern egdes?

I talked to our circulation folks. It’s a little problematic in terms of our routes. Much of our distribution for these zoned editions happens through zip codes, and my guess is that if you get the CLJ now, you will continue to get it. If you don’t, you may not. We continue to adjust the circulation and production of these weekly editions to match readership and annexation, will no doubt, require us to do some tweaking.
